Radio Free Africa is owned by Radio Free Africa Limited, with studios in Mwanza and branch studio in Dar es Salaam. Its offices are located in Mwanza City as its headquarter and branches in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Shinyanga, Mbeya, Iringa and Mtwara.
Radio Free Africa founded on 28th August, 1995 went on air in Mwanza on 89.8 MHz (Stereo) covering Lake Victoria areas; fully programming started in January, 1996 with entertaining programmes covering about 90% of its airtime.
Now RFA has the Nationwide coverage broadcasting in FM and AM/MW band with site relays at Dar es Salaam, arusha, Shinyanga, Mbeya, Iringa, Tabora, Kigoma, Dodoma, Tanga, Singida, Moshi, Kagera, Morogoro, Mtwara, Mara and Ruvuma and the AM/MW 1377 coveing 100% daytime in the lake zone and 80% night time in all East Africa regions.

i) AREAS COVERED BY RADIO FREE AFRICA
As briefly mentioned above, Radio Free Africa is the largest private
radio station in Tanzania with state of art equipments latest installed
in major 17 (seventeen) regions highly populated and with
economical potentials in Tanzania, catering to all sections of the people
of all ages.
a) Lake zone
We do have transmitters in Mwanza, Shinyanga, Mara, Kagera, Kigoma, Singida and Tabora. This zone consists the following regions; Mwanza, Mara, Kagera, Shinyanga, Singida, Tabora and Kigoma. It is well received and the only FM radio in the area with well reception and we are the market leader. It is the heavily populated area with 15 million people. Coverage for these regions is 95% day time and 100% night time through FM and AM/MW Band.
b) Northern zone -
We have transmitters in Moshi (Kilimanjaro) and Arusha, which covers the regions of Arusha, Kilimanjaro and western part of Tanga as well as the northern districts of Dodoma and Singida regions. The area is thickly populated with a population of over 5 million people.
c) Coastal zone
We have transmitter at Dar es salaam (Kisarawe), Morogoro and Tanga highly placed site with a direct overview of dare s salaam city. This site populated area with a population of more than 6 million people the access to our media. It is the only FM station covers Morogoro and Tanga as well as the only clear signal on FM 98.6 MHz in Zanzibar compared to other national Broadcasters.the above regions.
d) Southern Highland zone
Our Transmitters are located at highest point on Kaluwe Hill in Mbeya, Iringa, Rukwa and Ruvuma region. It covers Mbeya, Iringa, Ruvuma and Rukwa regions. Is the only FM in the area with such coverage. The area is very potential with a population of more than 5 million people with access to our station. We are the market leader and monopoly within the area.
